Why did you choose procurement recruitment as a career?
After graduating Psychology at the University of Winchester, I put my CV out online and received a call from a recruiter who said I seemed a good fit for an Associate role. Working for both FTSE listed and SME agencies, I’ve really enjoyed the scope for career progression within the industry, as well as never feeling like two days are the same.
Coming from Finance and Accountancy recruitment, I have always enjoyed recruiting commercially facing roles for my clients. I was attracted to Procurement due to the similarity of skills required within the profession and how transferable they are from one another.
What sort of procurement roles do you recruit and where?
My remit falls within the Public Sector Practice, recruiting on behalf of Education, Charity, Local & Central government, NHS and Housing Associations across the UK.
What qualities do you believe are integral to being a successful procurement recruiter?
Good listening and communication skills are essential when interacting with prospect candidates and clients. A transparent and consultative approach is also important.
What do Procurement Heads’ values mean to you?
Doing the right thing resonates highly with me as a recruiter. Helping candidates and clients effectively by ensuring that we provide a consultative and professional service regardless of winning the fee.
And our purpose is to deliver recruitment as a professional service, what does that mean to you?
I’d like our clients and candidates to know that we take their needs seriously. For those to be met, we take time to ensure those requirements are fully understood.
What inspires you?
We spend so much of our time at work so, make it a place worth getting out of bed for!
My biggest drive is knowing that I’ve helped people find a role and company in which they truly enjoy, and where their professional and personal goals are met.
What 3 words would you use to describe your professional self?
Approachable, transparent and empathetic.
What do you enjoy most about procurement recruitment?
I like the synergies between procurement and recruitment. Our role is similarly about maintaining and building strong relationships both internally and externally. Procurement professionals are also great negotiators!
What are some of the biggest highlights since you joined Procurement Heads?
Since working for Procurement Heads, I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback received by candidates and clients on the service we provide. What works well is being able to share this feedback within our network and embrace the impact of what we do.
The responses to our thought leadership articles and Events have been greatly received.
Highlights culturally also include our latest quarterly day out to London, playing a life-sized game of Monopoly.
