Lauren Bell joined Procurement Heads in 2022 as a Recruitment Consultant in our Interim practice
Why did you choose procurement recruitment as a career?
After four years of working in the agriculture sector, I made the decision that I wanted a career move that was more people-facing and faster-paced.
I was introduced to recruitment through a friend also in the industry who told me I would love it.
He was right.
Working in interim recruitment has allowed me to have a role where I get to speak with new people on a daily basis in a working environment that never stops.
What sort of procurement roles do you recruit and where?
I recruit a variety of interim procurement roles throughout all sectors across the UK.
What qualities do you believe are integral to being a successful procurement recruiter?
I think that in order to be a successful recruiter you need to be approachable and personable, without these qualities candidates are going to be less willing to discuss with us what they are looking for in a role and an employer.
What do Procurement Heads’ values mean to you?
Procurement Heads’ values to me mean going above and beyond what is expected whether it be for a client, candidate or fellow colleague.
Working both as an individual and as part of a team to get the best outcome for the situation.
A big part of the values to me is building meaningful relationships with the people that I work with internally and externally to develop trust and assist in providing recruitment as a professional service.
And our purpose is to deliver recruitment as a professional service, what does that mean to you?
Recruitment as a professional service to me means being less transactional and getting to know the candidates on an individual basis so that we can far better understand not only what they are looking for in the next role but also their motivations behind it.
What inspires you?
Coming from a sporting background I am constantly trying to better myself whilst playing rugby whether this be skills or fitness or otherwise.
I try to carry this mentality into my work life as well.
This inspires me to consistently push myself for improvement in my recruitment career with Procurement Heads.
What 3 words would you use to describe your professional self?
Motivated. Approachable. Determined.
What do you enjoy most about procurement recruitment?
I enjoy being able to speak to new people on a daily basis and being able to learn about what it is that they do and what they specialise in for their work in order to find them a role that will best suit their experience.
What are some of the biggest highlights since you joined Procurement Heads?
My first candidate placement is up there at the top.
Joining the team was also a real highlight for me, getting such a warm welcome from everyone who all offered their help and support meant that I had the best start to my recruitment career.
