Why did you choose procurement recruitment as a career?

Like most people, I pretty much fell into recruitment.

After completing my Master’s degree in criminal justice, it turned out that a career in the intelligence service wasn’t possible, subsequently, I was left looking for my next step.

My love and interest in people and building relationships meant that recruitment seemed like a logical move.

What sort of procurement roles do you recruit and where?

I recruit mid to senior-level procurement roles in the consumer space nationwide.

What qualities do you believe are integral to being a successful procurement recruiter?

Recruitment is about problem-solving and offering solutions to both clients and candidates.

A successful procurement recruiter knows and understands their market and can be a trusted advisor and partner to all.

What do Procurement Heads’ values mean to you?

Exceeding expectations – recruitment has attracted some bad press in the past.

That’s why I – and all team at Procurement Heads – aim to always go above and beyond in everything that we do.

Rewarding relationships – we are led by relationships.

We want to partner with clients and candidates so that both parties can benefit.

Doing the right thing – we ensure that no stone is left unturned, and we are compliant and accountable in all aspects of our role.

And our purpose is to deliver recruitment as a professional service, what does that mean to you?

Delivering recruitment as a professional service means moving away from stereotypical transactional recruitment.

It’s about being relationship-led and working in partnership with employers to deliver successful results.

How has procurement changed during your time recruiting into the sector?

I have noticed a shift in how procurement is viewed by the wider business.

A post-pandemic market with challenges in supply chain and inflation has heightened the profile of procurement and has helped companies recognising the value add that good procurement professionals offer.

Consequently, we’ve witnessed huge investment into procurement over the past 6-12 months.

What inspires you?

My main motivation derives from being the best that I can be and delivering great service.

What 3 words would you use to describe your professional self?

Trustworthy, reliable, and accountable.

What do you enjoy most about procurement recruitment?

I enjoy the value add that we offer as procurement recruiters.

Whether that be to a Hiring Manager who has been struggling to make that pivotal hire or a candidate looking for that next step in their career; we make a big impact on people’s lives!
