Procurement Heads have been retained by a leading name in the maritime industry to appoint its first Vice President of Procurement.
This newly created role is designed to bring a procurement and supply chain-focused business partner to the leadership team of this fast-growing organisation. The primary mandate is to evolve procurement’s visibility and influence and increase its capability to support a broad range of categories including; technical and mechanical products and services through to operations, security, facilities, food and beverage.
The Role:
The role will report to the President with a dotted line to the global CPO. As a newly established role, your duties and responsibilities will evolve with time, but the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate success in the following areas;
Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop a forward-thinking procurement vision that aligns with long-term goals and competitive strategies.
Lead the identification of emerging trends, technologies, and disruptive forces in the shipping industry that could impact procurement practices.
Foster a culture of innovation and creative problem-solving within the procurement team, encouraging novel approaches to procurement excellence.
Supplier Collaboration and Innovation:
Cultivate strategic relationships with suppliers as true partners in innovation, working together to identify opportunities for joint value creation.
Drive initiatives that promote supplier-led innovation, including co-development of new products, processes, and sustainable solutions.
Establish forums for cross-functional collaboration, enabling the sharing of insights and ideas with internal stakeholders and key suppliers.
Sustainable Procurement Practices:
Integrate sustainability considerations into procurement strategies, selecting suppliers aligned with environmental and social responsibility commitments.
Drive the adoption of circular economy principles, waste reduction, and environmentally friendly sourcing practices throughout the supply chain.
Risk Management and Resilience:
Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential supply chain vulnerabilities.
Establish robust business continuity plans and supplier risk profiles to ensure uninterrupted operations in challenging scenarios.
Executive Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with C-suite executives, providing strategic insights on procurement, cost optimisation, and supply chain resilience.
Participate in board-level discussions, presenting procurement strategies that align with the company’s overarching strategic direction.

Remuneration and Benefits:
The role is offering between £160,000 – £190,000 commensurate with your experience. There is a discretionary bonus, private health insurance, death in service (4 times annual salary), income protection insurance, pension and other soft benefits.
