A dynamic insurance business is recruiting a Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Manager - IT.

A nimble and entrepreneurial financial services group operating in a niche pocket of the insurance market is recruiting a Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Manager – IT to head up technology spend across the enterprise. 

Working within a small but talented team with a relatively large spend profile, you’ll report to the Head of Procurement and be accountable for the sourcing delivery of business-critical and medium-to-high spend opportunities, as well as the management and development of strategic suppliers.

Based in the heart of London’s insurance district, the business operates a hybrid approach to working with people typically going into the office 1-2 days per week.

As Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Manager – IT, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Developing and undertaking the sourcing process for complex, medium-to-high spend goods or services, influencing annual spend in the range of £20-30m and managing all risk, legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Developing and implementing integrated market strategies for complex, medium-to-high spend categories and reviewing on an annual on-going basis
  • Working collaboratively with the relevant stakeholders and being responsible for ensuring the utilisation of the Supplier Management Framework to include the development of joint account plans, benefits and savings, continuous improvement targets, and relationship development modelling
  • Creating a qualified savings and benefits pipeline in collaboration with relevant stakeholders approved by finance and applied to budgets, where applicable
  • Being the lead negotiator of significant (multi-million) savings and benefits throughout the contract and relationship lifecycle, including the management and resolution of contract variations and disputes
  • Establishing a collaborative way of working with all relevant stakeholders and strategic suppliers that supports the successful transition of sourcing-led execution to strategic supplier management
  • Challenging demand and aggregation of stakeholder requirements to maximise overall value, whilst aligning with stakeholders’ objectives and priorities
  • Conducting regular competitor and supplier market watch assessments in the delivery of the optimal total cost of ownership
  • Recognised for sourcing and supplier management expertise, providing specialist advice to key stakeholders, and introducing innovation, expertise, and ideas to deliver sourcing and supplier management-led competitive advantage
  • Leading a team of Sourcing & Supplier Managers and contributing to the ongoing development of the procurement team to fulfil its mission commitments and achieve its vision

Skills and experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of procurement, including market analysis, negotiation, tender management, sourcing strategies and supplier management
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of contract law, including contract negotiation
  • Knowledge of project and change management
  • Significant (minimum of 8 years) sourcing experience with in-depth, recent IT procurement experience and a demonstrable track record of leading multi-million-pound savings and benefits delivery
  • Experience in leading strategically critical supplier contracts and relationships, with executive-level engagements
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and problem-solving experience in large, complex organisations
  • Minimum of 5 years of line management experience
  • Demonstrable experience in communicating, collaborating and working effectively with colleagues, key stakeholders, and suppliers
