An industry-leading high-tech manufacturing company with a global foothold is looking to recruit a Strategic Buyer.
Procurement Heads’ Industrial practice is currently working alongside an industry-leading manufacturer, recruiting a Strategic Buyer to join its dynamic and collaborative procurement team.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract that has arisen due to maternity leave.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for managing a spend of £15-20m across mechanical, CAPEX and indirect material (but this may change over time).
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone coming from a manufacturing or complex procurement background, and looking to join a fast-paced high-performing team which encourages collaboration.
As Strategic Buyer, your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing effective commodity strategies that align with corporate and operational objectives
- Developing and negotiate supply agreements with key suppliers and then monitor adherence
- Managing the RFQ/tender process and develop objective supplier selection methods
- Negotiating costs, identify and continuously deliver cost-reduction programmes
- Supporting new product development and introduction
- Effectively managing key supplier relationships (SRM)
- Improving supplier performance through KPI’s
Key experience:
- Procurement professional with 3-5 years of commercial experience ideally in a strategic commodity management setting
- Experience with mechanical, CAPEX and indirect material would be preferred but is not essential
- Experience working in the technology sector and a complex manufacturing environment across multiple locations
- Experience in managing supplier contract negotiations
- Demonstrable delivery of cost-reduction programmes
- Effective deployment of commodity strategies
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in either a technical or business discipline
- CIPS preferred but not essential
