Senior Procurement Officer (Professional Services) | Insurance Provider | Surrey

A leading insurance business in Surrey is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to join their Indirects team in the Professional Services department.

As Senior Procurement Officer you will be working alongside other departments such as Human Resources and Fleet & Travel.

As Senior Procurement Officer your key responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver on agreed targets and service delivery
  • Partner and develop effective relationships with the service team to ensure the right supplier base is in place that delivers the right quality, price & required due diligence
  • Coordinate and lead procurement initiatives and develop category strategy
  • Support on all sourcing and supplier management activities
  • Lead the development and implementation of category strategies and sourcing processes across all business units to ensure the lowest cost of ownership
  • Conduct market analysis, negotiation and contracting activities with suppliers based on strategic aspects
  • Conduct tactical and strategic sourcing projects (including vendor screening) via approved channels and facilitates storage of associated contracts as per agreed processes
  • Manages risk through robust due diligence practices in alignment with existing guidance and processes

Skills and experience required:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in the Professional Services / Consulting procurement category (ideally in challenging corporate environment)
  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering cost savings and other added value
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with senior-level exposure
  • Knowledge of contract law and the ability to work alongside the in-house legal team for contract negotiations
  • Experience of working with Ariba or other strategic sourcing platforms is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of the P2P process, not essential
  • Professional services / consulting background preferred but not essential
  • MCIPS – qualified or working towards a qualification – preferred
