Senior Procurement Manager (Technology)

A market-disrupting fintech bank is recruiting a Senior Procurement Manager (Technology) into its greenfield function.

A market-disrupting fintech bank, combining the agility of a fintech with the assurances/core values of a bank, is growing exponentially and, as such, is looking to appoint a Senior Procurement Manager (Technology) to its greenfield function. 
  
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you’ll join a unique, small function going on a journey and surround yourself with passionate, positive professionals who love working at the business. 
  
To be considered, you’ll need a proven track record in IT procurement and a deep understanding of procurement best practices as you’ll head up cradle-to-grave IT procurement across the whole gamut of technology spend for the business (circa £25m).
  
An early adopter of hybrid working, the business offers flexibility from the start with its contemporary central London/Essex offices being easily accessible for most commuters but with some people going in as little as two-to-four times per month and working remotely the rest of the time.
  
As Senior Procurement Manager (Technology) your key responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting the Head of Procurement to ensure companywide purchasing requirements and contract management solutions for IT and BPO Services are managed in a clear, concise manner, which demonstrates the financial and operational benefits for the business and aligns with Procurement policy
  • Designing, developing and implementing the procurement strategy for the required category to meet business requirements. This must align with the overall procurement strategy establishing a business partnership model across the functions to apply best practices to supplier management and realisation and reporting of cost-saving, cost avoidance and value of money opportunities
  • Developing strategic relationships with new suppliers and partners to meet customer needs and requirements and developing and delivering RFx’s, contract management, spend analytics and supplier performance management strategy for the category.
  • Commissioning, executing and delivering high-level procurement projects to agreed timelines and objectives
  • Conducting/supporting senior-level negotiations and implementing appropriate tactics to achieve favourable outcomes
  • Leading regular reviews of the spend categories through benchmarking, rationalisation and aggregation opportunities
  • Developing relationships with existing suppliers to reduce costs or provide an enhanced service whilst delivering innovation, sustainability and benefit to our business
  • Building relationships with and working with the business owners in the category to define and agree on appropriate supplier engagement and performance measures
  • Working closely with the Outsourced Services team and training business owners for required in-life management of contract
  • Ensuring ongoing identification of changes in the market that could impact current services/goods provided (both positive and negative) and ensuring engagement in the external procurement sector to stay up to date with changes in legislation and ways of working and to provide procurement category

Skills and experience:

  • Senior Category Management experience in IT procurement
  • Experience working within Financial services
  • Excellent negotiator
  • Deep understanding of IT procurement category management and supplier relationship management best practice
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft MS Excel and other MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good understanding of outsourcing regulations: SS2/21, EBA outsourcing guidance and SYSC 8
  • Creating and managing complex tender and benchmarking exercises
  • Able to create appropriate commercial models to suit requirements in the category
  • Experienced in drafting and interpretation of contracts and clauses, in-depth understanding of contracts with deep category-specific knowledge
  • High-level negotiations and category/supplier relationship management
