Procurement Heads’ Industrial team is exclusively working with a major defence contractor on the South Coast. We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to apply to join a growing function within the product development and delivery division and oversee a variety of projects within the team.

As Procurement Manager you will;

  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategy
  • Effectively delegate workload across the team, ensuring priorities are managed
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Company systems, including purchase to pay systems, risk and supplier management tools
  • Lead and influence cross-business/cross-functional teams, providing expertise and delivery of business requirements
  • Manage contracts throughout their life in conjunction with the business
  • Lead and manage the risk and opportunity activities to minimise contractual exposure and maximise contract effectiveness
  • Enable open communication with suppliers to encourage collaboration and innovation where appropriate
  • Manage and develop team/s to ensure procurement resources are deployed to be most effective and that talent is managed in line with Functional requirements and changing business needs
  • Be seen by internal and external stakeholders as a subject expert for procurement within a business.  Role holder will provide expertise, regularly partnering with others to meet strategic goals

Skills and Experience

  • CIPS qualified is desirable
  • Excellent cross functional stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to develop and lead a high-performing team, enabling a positive working culture that embraces diversity of thought
  • Excellent negotiation skills that drive positive business outcomes and ability to influence at all levels
  • Possess a high standard of Procurement competence in key areas of sourcing, process knowledge, contracting skills and supplier management
  • Excellent project management skills, product awareness, commercial acumen, financial awareness, risk and opportunity management
