Procurement Heads is delighted to be retained on a Senior Procurement Consultant (Public Sector Specialist) mandate by a values-driven and growing Procurement Consultancy SME that has recently won an award for its non-profit work. 
  
The consultancy specialises in all things procurement and is dedicated to helping organisations across a host of sectors by delivering savings with integrity. 
  
Owing to sustained organic growth, it is recruiting a Senior Procurement Consultant (Public Sector Specialist) to work with public sector clients across Healthcare, Social Housing, Maritime, etc., for the consultancy – a huge growth area.
  
The role will report to the Managing Director and requires a client-focused ‘doer’ with a minimum of 8-10 years’ procurement experience and at least 5-8 years’ deep and up-to-date public-sector procurement experience within a demanding public-sector environment. 
  
While a consulting background may be beneficial, it is not essential, and the role will be mostly remote with travel into London up to twice a week and client sites at least once a fortnight. 
  
As Senior Procurement Consultant (Public Sector Specialist) your key responsibilities will be:

  • Leading and project managing public sector client delivery projects (i.e., public sector tenders across multiple sectors, primarily Healthcare, Social Housing and Maritime)
  • Liaising with in-house teams (i.e., analysts and other consultants) to support the delivery of client projects
  • Ensuring appropriate tracking is in place, including regular project updates and reporting dashboards
  • Developing rich and effective client relationships and identification of any ongoing and new sales opportunities
  • Contributing to the strategic and operational development of the consultancy where relevant, including enhancement of internal methodologies and operations relating to public sector deliver

  
Skills and experience:
  

  • Procurement and commercial experience relating to the delivery of public sector sourcing and tenders
  • Deep knowledge and experience of public sector regulations 
  • MCIPS qualified
  • Ability to engage with, influence and add value to senior stakeholders within the consultancy’s clients
  • A background of personally delivering actual outcomes in complex environments
  • A clear, concise communicator and presenter
  • A positive, can-do attitude and ability to work individually or within a team across client projects
  • Excellent personal organisational skills and with extraordinary attention to detail
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Ideally demonstrable consulting experience, (but not essential), in a Procurement environment
  • Project Management expertise
  • Commercial outlook (return on investment of all activities and initiatives)
  • Comfortable working under pressure within short timelines 
  • Track record of building engaging and trusting relationships, both internally and externally
  • A keen interest in the business, a professional attitude and a desire to play a key role in the growth of an SME consultancy
