Senior IT Procurement Manager

A global, multi-channel brand that is still privately owned is seeking a talented and passionate Senior IT Category Manager to join its team.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will need to be confident, experienced and self-sufficient in IT Procurement as you’ll own the whole technology spend (circa £60m) and support the Head of Procurement by working with autonomy and initiative.

As Senior IT Procurement Manager your key responsibilities will be:

  • Managing the on-going supply of goods and services for IT and related stakeholders, and implementing opportunities to maximise commercial value and improve the level of service received whilst meeting stakeholder objectives
  • Managing the procurement aspects of IT Project Work ensuring that best commercial and contractual value is obtained within the project timelines
  • Promoting best purchasing practice to raise the level of service and commercial value achieved by Procurement
  • Drafting and running RFP/RFI process, maintaining vendor relationships, leading negotiations and managing contracts and commercial risk for technology vendors
  • Close partnership and liaison with all key internal stakeholders including Senior Heads of IT and Finance working towards the successful completion of contract negotiations and initiatives
  • Supporting stakeholder commercial objectives, delivering savings targets and service improvement expectations
  • Ensuring saving/performance/overrider targets are achieved
  • Supporting and promoting purchasing best practice across the Group
  • Leading commercial projects and negotiations
  • Managing and developing the supply base, spend and contract database
  • Developing the supply base to ensure commitment to ethical and socially responsible trading objectives are met
  • Working with key stakeholders on an ongoing basis to ensure their key objectives are met by being incorporated into the overall strategic plan
  • Agreeing on the sourcing approach, providing market analysis and developing specifications for each project, working with internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the development of Contracts and Service Level Agreements and working with Legal Team to maintain the Contracts database
  • Leading implementation and ensure stakeholder and commercial objectives are realised
  • Managing ongoing supplier relationships
  • Managing RFx/ Process evaluating competitive offerings from suppliers and presenting recommendations
  • Leading contract negotiations and vendor selection through the bid process to establish commercial terms within the overall contract through to contract approval and execution
  • Managing and developing IT Category Plans for the strategic supplier base

Skills and experience:

  • You will have a high level of experience in best practice procurement within IT Procurement categories along with demonstrable experience in category management, development of sourcing strategies and packaging experience
  • Strong leadership, influencing, motivation and management skills
  • Proven track record of networking and influencing both internally and externally and working in partnership with industry bodies and NGOs
  • Delivering successful strategic projects and implementing complex change
  • Commercially astute analyst, a natural problem solver with a strong understanding of leveraging operating efficiencies, opportunities to gain added value from suppliers and logistics partners
  • Strong process orientation, able to apply the clarity of purpose and define simple, robust operating processes
  • Concise and influential communicator, able to discuss complex issues with clarity and credibility to a cross-functional audience of varied
  • A Degree in a STEM subject or Purchasing or Supply Professional Qualification (CIPS) would be desirable
