Senior IT Category Manager

An innovative and dynamic FTSE 250 FMCG with a forward-thinking CPO at the helm is seeking a Senior IT Category Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Indirect Procurement and with one direct report, you’ll manage an IT spend of circa £15m as well as numerous projects centred around the transformation of Procurement and the implementation of a new ERP. 
You’ll also work with a wide range of stakeholders across the group’s worldwide operations, leading the implementation of a group-wide Procurement strategy for the IT category. 

The role will be a mixture of remote working with up to two days a week in the business’ Hertfordshire office. 
As Senior IT Category Manager your key responsibilities will be:

  • Building effective supplier relationships across the most strategic/critical suppliers within the IT Services categories to mitigate risk and drive value
  • Optimising savings and value delivery through sustaining high levels of innovation/NPD, driving continuing cost and value efficiencies, reducing risk through the implementation of contractual rigour, improving sustainability and facilitating the drive to improve the quality and reliability of the supply chain
  • Provide ongoing reports to Finance and key budget holders across the group with strong recommendations of opportunities for budget setting
  • Conducting category planning approaches via finance tools to aid budgeting and forecasting process and monitoring the implementation of the forecast on an ongoing basis
  • Executing category management and delivery of financial benefit through strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Providing guidance and support to direct reports, the CoE buying helpdesk team and departmental colleagues and assisting in the development and recruitment of current and future employees within the group Procurement function
  • Ensuring suppliers are compliant with the company’s ethical trading policy and that they demonstrate a commitment to meeting our expectations of corporate responsibility

Skills and experience:

  • A strong track record working within a blue-chip environment in an IT Procurement Manager/Category Manager role
  • Knowledge of category management and supplier relationship management tools and techniques is essential 
  • Experience in leading and developing own or core project teams is essential
  • Change management experience is essential
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills are essential
  • Strong analytical skills are essential
  • International experience and languages are desirable
  • A degree preferably in a commercially related discipline (i.e. business studies, law, accountancy or marketing) is desirable
  • CIPS qualified or working towards CIPS is desirable
