Senior IT Buyer | Insurance Provider | Surrey

A leading insurance business in Surrey is seeking a Senior IT Buyer to join their Indirects team. The Senior IT Buyer is a newly created role that will be focusing on IT software and software licencing.

As Senior IT Buyer your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the IT Procurement Manager to deliver on the agreed targets and service delivery
  • Partner and develop effective relationships with the stakeholders to ensure the right supplier base is in place that delivers the right quality, value and required due diligence
  • Coordinate and lead the Procurement initiatives and work in support of the IT Category strategy and initiatives
  • Support in all sourcing and supplier management activities
  • Support with the development and implementation of IT category strategies and sourcing processes across all business units to ensure the lowest cost of ownership
  • Conduct market analysis, negotiation and contracting activities with suppliers based on strategic and commercial aspects including Total Cost of Ownership approach
  • Conduct tactical and strategic sourcing projects (including vendor screening) via approved channels and facilitate the storage of associated contracts as per agreed processes
  • Manage risk through robust due diligence practices in alignment with existing guidance and processes

Skills and experience required:

  • 3-5 years worth of experience of managing/working IT procurement category (ideally in a challenging corporate environment)
  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering cost savings and other added value
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with senior-level exposure
  • Knowledge of Contract Law and ability to work alongside our in-house legal team for contract negotiations
  • Experience working with Ariba or other strategic sourcing platforms is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of the P2P process, not essential
  • IT background preferred but not essential
  • MCIPS – qualified or working towards a qualification, preferred but not essential
  • Business degree – with IT advantageous
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work practically and with agility in a changing environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and supplier management skills
