The sector is changing and so is the Procurement service. In order to ensure that Procurement arrangements reflect the strategy, a category managed approach delivering value for money through high quality arrangements must be embedded.
As a senior member of the team you will need a high level of commercial acumen and the ability to build strong, productive relationships with a diverse stakeholder group – including academic and research staff, heads of the professional services functions and key external suppliers and partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- To lead the procurement of a specific major category (or categories) of spend across the University, demonstrating measurable efficiencies in a challenging economic climate. Develop flexible and creative solutions whilst ensuring a consistent team approach with high standards of operation and corporate governance.
- To act as a Business Partner, developing strategic partnerships, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant Deans and Heads of Professional Services.
- To Fully understand the procurement needs of the Faculty/service and ensure that any priorities are covered within category plans.
The Procurement service plays an important role in supporting colleagues in procuring a diverse range of goods, services and works which are critical to the successful operation.
You should have previous experience of working in a complex financial environment and as a Senior Category Manager you must be able to demonstrate your significant experience in developing, managing and implementing category plans and delivery of associated savings and benefits.
This will be a challenging role encompassing multiple categories. You will be a self-starter who is comfortable operating within an OJEU framework.
