Procurement Specialist (Marketing)

A highly acquisitive and global financial services organisation with huge transformation plans is recruiting a Procurement Specialist (Marketing).

Reporting to the Marketing Category Lead, the Procurement Specialist will support a spend of circa £40m across media, digital and creative, working at a strategic level with internal stakeholders and external vendors to optimise value from third-party relationships for the supply of goods and services in marketing.
  
The role can be done remotely, however, travel to the Guildford office will be required 1-2x per month as per business requirements.
   
As Procurement Specialist (Marketing) your key responsibilities will be:

  • Identifying opportunities to optimise costs and increase value across the categories of media, creative, sponsorship and print, considering internal requirements, market trends as well as group projects
  • Coordinating and leading Procurement initiatives, working in support of the marketing category strategy and procurement corporate plan, and in alignment with global sourcing and procurement initiatives
  • Driving supplier innovation through proactive engagement with the marketplace
  • Managing supply risk within the parameters of the procurement governance framework
  • Conducting market analysis, negotiation and contracting activities with suppliers based on strategic aspects
  • Regularly collaborating with key stakeholders to deliver best practices for procurement processes and compliance management.
  • Acting as a reliable and well-trusted interface between the organisation and suppliers
  • Identifying business improvement opportunities, steers and tracks with key performance metrics
  • Supporting the Marketing Category Lead to deliver on reporting and management information requirements
  • Supporting the Marketing Category Lead in developing and implementing category strategies and sourcing processes across all business units to ensure the lowest total cost of ownership

Skills and experience:
   
To be a success, you will ideally have proven corporate marketing/media procurement experience as well as the following:

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with marketing and digital stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen, ability to understand wider business impacts
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with good negotiation skills and a high degree of influencing and communication skills
  • Assertiveness, high tenacity, ability to work in a team as well as in a self-motivated and flexible way towards agreed objectives
  • A strategic and flexible mindset with analytical and result-oriented thinking
  • Analytical skills and experience analysing spend and using market insights to support the development of category/sourcing strategies
  • Knowledge of contract law and ability to work alongside our in-house legal team for contract negotiations
  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering cost savings and other added value
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Experience in working with SAP Ariba strategic sourcing platform an advantage
  • Category and Procurement management experience in a corporate environment, including sourcing, preparation and execution of tenders from identifying requirements through the cycle to renewal/ retender.
  • MCIPS – qualified or working towards qualification (preferred).
  • Business degree with Marketing advantageous.
