The Procurement Specialist (Engineering) role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects by providing robust sourcing strategies, supplier management, and procurement expertise.
The role offers exposure to both operational and capital project procurement, requiring a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery across diverse spend areas (c£25million).

Key duties of the Procurement Specialist
Management of your categories across all UK sites
Categories:
- Industrial Equipment & Systems: Rotating and static equipment, electrical systems and controls, process and fabricated assemblies.
- Maintenance & Technical Services: Equipment refurbishment, spare parts, reliability services, site contractors, engineering support, and logistics coordination.
- Project & Infrastructure Procurement: Capital and operational projects (OPEX/CAPEX), site refurbishments, civil works, and installation services.
Duties:
- Develop and execute sourcing and category strategies across mechanical, electrical, and industrial goods and services.
- Lead market analysis, supplier selection, tendering, and end-to-end sourcing for operational and capital projects.
- Build strategic supplier relationships, drive innovation, and optimise total cost of ownership.
- Negotiate contracts, establish framework agreements, and monitor supplier performance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, and process simplification.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, projects, and commercial teams to support business objectives.
- Act as primary procurement contact in project teams, balancing cost, quality, and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical sourcing, and sustainability standards.
- Champion continuous improvement, digitalisation, and consistency across procurement processes.
- Manage a broad portfolio spanning industrial equipment, technical services, project procurement, and corporate support categories, delivering measurable value and efficiency.
Key experience required:
- Experience in Capex, engineering and fast paced environments
- Analytical skills, spend analysis, ability to identify market opportunities to optimise supplier performance and cost
- Continuous Improvement methodology
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
