Procurement Manager (Indirects)

Procurement Heads is delighted to be working exclusively with an award-winning specialist financial services company to hire a Procurement Manager.

The business is part of the new age of financial services and offers a range of products, aiming to operate with the agility of a fintech with the core values of a bank.

The business is at a very exciting point as they look to accelerate their investment in technology and people to deliver best in class customer experiences. This brings a significant investment in the Procurement team to improve their ability to meet these changing needs with speed and certainty.

They are looking for a Procurement Manager to look after their non-IT indirect spend (£14m) across Marketing (£6m), Professional Services (£4m) amongst others. 

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you’ll join a unique, small function going on a journey and surround yourself with passionate, positive professionals who love working at the business.

The right candidate will have 3-5 years of experience within indirect procurement and be ready to step into a Procurement Manager level role. 

This is a perfect role for those keen to learn and progress within a forward-thinking procurement team. There is a modern, versatile culture and this role can be done predominantly remotely, with some ad-hoc travel to their London office.

Key responsibilities of the Procurement Manager role:

  • Ensuring companywide purchasing requirements and contract management solutions for General Services are managed effectively
  • Designing, developing and implementing the procurement strategy for the required categories to meet business requirements
  • Developing strategic relationships with new suppliers and partners to meet customer needs and requirements
  • Managing the procurement log, approvals process, contract repository and be procurement lead for the commercial contract framework
  • Conducting senior-level negotiations and implementing appropriate tactics to achieve favourable outcomes
  • Leading regular reviews of the spend categories through benchmarking, rationalisation and aggregation opportunities
  • Developing relationships with existing suppliers to reduce costs or provide an enhanced service whilst delivering innovation, sustainability and benefit to the business
  • Building relationships with and working with the business owners in the category to define and agree on appropriate supplier engagement and performance measures

 Key skills and experience for the Procurement Manager role: 

  • Experience with Category Management (desirable)
  • Experience working within Financial Services (desirable)
  • Sound understanding of Procurement category management and Supplier Relationship Management best practices
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft MS Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Understanding of outsourcing regulations: SS2/21, EBA outsourcing guidance and SYSC 8
  • Creating and managing complex tender and benchmarking exercises
  • Able to create appropriate commercial models to suit requirements in the category
  • Experienced in drafting and interpreting of contracts and clauses
  • Negotiation and Supplier Relationship Management experience
