Procurement Manager

A luxury manufacturing organisation is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead their direct spend procurement categories.

A leading marine manufacturing organisation is looking to recruit a Procurement Manager.

This company offers bespoke solutions for its clients.

This role has arisen due to a need for a Procurement Manager to develop an effective procurement team of 4 buyers and lead on major procurement projects within the company.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will focus on the materials procurement and specific strategy including supplier selection, contract award and supplier performance. 

Most important of all is to improve OTIF delivery.

The approximate spend is £50 million.
As Procurement Manager your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop the Category team to ensure they have the necessary and appropriate tools and skills to deliver annual 0bjectives for Procurement & Materials Management team.
  • Lead the Category team to review & understand commodity and market pricing via analysis of raw material fluctuations, currency movement and market trends/demands to support cost reduction via negotiation, internal waste reduction projects & design/development improvements.
  • Conduct strategic sourcing activities for the role’s defined commodity groups, to derive term contracts, manage supply base and instigate supplier continuous improvement programmes.
  • Construction and negotiation of supply contracts with external suppliers.
  • Lead ‘make vs buy’ analysis and implement appropriate solutions as appropriate.
  • Undertake assessment of multiple market solutions where available including (but not limited to) low-cost country sourcing opportunities where appropriate
  • Adhere to administration systems ensuring agreed processes of the purchase cycle such as order format, delivery schedules etc are complied with.
  • Track and report supplier performance, purchase price variance and other relevant KPIs including project updates and benefits delivered.
  • Support the wider Procurement & Materials Management team through training and development initiatives.
  • Working with a range of business stakeholders, support the construction and deployment of category strategies.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Procurement experience within manufacturing or FMCG industries
  • Leadership experience – managing procurement teams
  • CIPS or equivalent qualifications preferred
  • Computer literate Microsoft applications e.g., Word and Excel
  • Demonstrable strong collaboration and communication skills at all levels by showing good presentation skills with a willingness to embrace change
  • Track record of ‘delivery’ of cost benefits and supplier relationship development
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Demonstrable influencing skills
  • Extensive contract negotiation skills – commercial and legal aspects
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of budgets and financial matters in a manufacturing environment
