Procurement Director (FM)

A Fortune 500 corporate services company with a best-in-class procurement function is seeking a driven and influential Procurement Director (FM).

A mix of London-based work and remote, you’ll be part of the senior leadership team and provide effective strategic leadership balanced with effective operational management for all procurement activities within the division, working alongside Finance, HR, QHSE and Commerical Directors to lead the division in achieving the business plan and long-term business strategies. 

You’ll also be accountable for new sales bids, mobilising and establishing new business and ongoing operational activities, improving performance, delivering a better value supply chain and reducing risk significantly. 
  
As Procurement Director (FM) your key responsibilities will be:

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies and plans aligned with company procurement strategies that result in meeting company and financial objectives and growth and retention strategies
  • Delivering targeted margin-improvement and performance-improvement benefits and being fully accountable for the financial and non-financial performance of the total supply chain solution for the division through direct and non-direct activity
  • Ensuring the correct resources are in place and optimising performance of resources to deliver the business objectives
  • Building relationships with key customers to actively promote procurement capability and demonstrate the wider value add of the business to drive increased new business and customer retention
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation to ensure that procurement is seen as a valued contributor to the success of the division and the company
  • Identify and establishing the supply chain in new markets and territories to support growth objectives
  • Developing and implementing consistent learning and development interventions to embed good procurement practice throughout the division so that every buying decision made in the business is fit for purpose and aligned with the company’s procurement strategy
  • Developing market-leading contractual arrangements with preferred supply partners that are recognised for delivering best-value and high-quality service delivery to the business and its customers
  • Developing and maintaining relationships at the highest levels within preferred supply partner organisations
  • Ensuring that the supply chain is safe, sustainable and appropriately accredited and utilising the standardised mechanisms for continual risk management and performance improvement of the supply chain
  • Implementing standardised SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) strategies and plans with key supply partners that establish the business as a customer of choice in the marketplace and delivering value over and above what would normally be achieved
  • Developing and implementing category strategies for elected categories and leveraging the wider market position to ensure the client requirements and business needs are met
  • Developing and implementing measurable communication mechanisms to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged in the delivery of procurement strategies
  • Participating in new business bid process, providing procurement expertise to the bid teams to enable the business to tender competitively
  • Supporting the mobilisation of new client contracts, leading the procurement stream and working with the mobilisation team and the client to influence and facilitate the appropriate supply strategy
  • Input to one-to-four year planning activities
  • Leading on the development and implementation of procurement strategies working with procurement teams in other divisions to develop and share best practices and technical expertise

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of the FM market and in-depth knowledge of the FM supply chain
  • CIPS qualified or equivalent, with substantial experience, preferably reporting into Board level, of providing strategic leadership and direction within a large and complex organisation
  • Proven capability in leading large-scale change initiatives and embedding new organisations and new ways of working
  • Proven capability of effectively organising, motivating and developing people in a complex, matrix-managed organisation
  • Ambitious and driven to succeed with abundant energy and enthusiasm
  • Superior influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to work with and influence a broad range of customers, stakeholders and supply partner staff at senior levels
  • A passion for delivering tangible and measurable results
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of identifying and delivering substantial margin improvement
  • Proficient analytical skills and a measured approach to decision making
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to maximise the short term position while building long term productive relationships
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple work programmes effectively
