IT Procurement Specialist

A global financial services company is recruiting an IT Procurement Specialist to join its technology function.

Procurement Heads is delighted to be partnering with this global financial services powerhouse to add an IT Procurement Specialist to their technology function.

This role will sit in their software and licencing team and while experience within IT procurement would be advantageous, it is not essential.
  
Day to day, you will be working on the full procurement lifecycle from supplier selection to post-contract management for a portfolio of software suppliers, ranging in difficulty and value (from thousands to millions of pounds a year).
  
The role will entail supporting cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex sourcing initiatives, leading on the contractual requirements and obligations as well as working with strategic suppliers to identify and deliver service and cost efficiencies and improvements.

Key responsibilities of the IT Procurement Specialist role:

  • Leading, coordinating and supporting a variety of strategic supplier commercial and contractual initiatives in line with the agreed category strategy
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with strategic suppliers, management and key stakeholders
  • Supporting the business in all contractual and supplier management queries, reporting and associated activities
  • Delivering cost optimisation and other value add benefits to supplier relationships
  • Conducting IT market analysis on strategic suppliers and alternative market-leading vendors
  • Supporting tactical and strategic sourcing projects via approved channels and facilitating storage of associated contracts
  • Contributing towards savings target agreed with Management
  • Leads on contract management activities, tracking delivery against contractual terms and seeking improvements
  • Building effective relationships with stakeholders on local/global levels through proactive engagement and collaboration
  • Providing subject matter expertise to senior stakeholders and sharing knowledge with the wider Procurement team

Skills/experience required for the IT Procurement Specialist role:

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with good negotiation skills
  • Assertiveness, high tenacity, ability to work in a team as well as in a self-motivated and flexible way towards agreed objectives
  • Strategic and flexible mindset with analytical and result-oriented thinking
  • Analytical skills and experience analysing spend and using market insights to support the development of category/sourcing strategies
  • CIPS – qualified or working towards qualification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of contract law and ability to work alongside in-house legal team for contract negotiations
  • Experience working with IT and/or technology agreements is an advantage
  • Experience working with Ariba strategic sourcing platform is an advantage
