Head of Procurement

This leading FM services provider is working exclusively with Procurement Heads to search for a Head of Procurement to lead a team of 8 for their headquarters in Wiltshire. Your role will be to provide strong and effective leadership to secure the delivery of effective supply chain and procurement activities to the business, securing business support to develop the function.

Spending time to understand the business, you will recognise stakeholder priorities and be aware of the historic role of procurement and the business perception of it. You will also understand and assess current processes and procedures, see how they are being operated and suggest incremental improvements – it particularly important that any changes you suggest suit the business and not that ‘best practice procurement’ is immediately appropriate.


Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and implement a Supply Chain strategy to ensure that a high quality and responsive support service is supplied to the Business. Primary Areas:
    • Supplier and Sub-Contractor Management
    • Contract Management
    • Supply Chain Process Management & Improvement
    • Supply Chain Performance Management
  • Provide subject matter expertise input through a matrix management structure to those involved in supply chain activity
  • Provide leadership, management, training and development to the Procurement department, promoting continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement and manage appropriate subcontract, supplier and subcontractor contract strategy in terms of contract type, duration, risk transfer and contract compliance to maximise the value of the supplier base and ensure Business Requirements are met
  • Ensure that all suppliers and subcontractors have been through the internal approval process before getting on the Approved Supplier / Subcontractor Database, in particular that the required health & safety standards
  • Ensure that the Approved Supplier / Subcontractor Database is kept up to date
  • Ensure all contracts are managed to legal requirements. Establish and manage communication plan with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure all reporting, meetings and contractual obligations are met
