Head of Indirect Procurement

As the Head of Indirect Procurement for this ambitious, PE backed, Facilities Management organisation, you will play a pivotal role in managing the UK & Ireland’s Indirect Procurement function. Reporting directly to the Procurement & Fleet Director, you will be responsible for leading procurement strategy, optimising indirect spend, and ensuring excellent service to stakeholders.  You’ll have the privilege of working alongside a highly experienced and collaborative Senior Leadership Team and managing 3 highly strong, high performing Category Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Provide strong leadership to the Procurement team, aligning their efforts with our business objectives, culture, and values
    • Support the Procurement Director in developing and implementing strategies to reduce risk and cost while maintaining high service levels
  • Systems & Processes:
    • Enhance decision-making through accurate, accessible, and reliable data
    • Oversee budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and rebate performance
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure quality and service requirements are met in commercial negotiations
    • Foster strong relationships with suppliers to drive business growth and profitability
  • Spend Management:
    • Manage all indirect spend categories, including contingent labour, fleet, workwear, IT, and professional services
    • Lead efforts to increase spend under management and deliver on procurement synergy targets during M&A activities
  • Team Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of 3 Category Managers fostering their professional growth and ensuring effective category management
    • Drive transformation and change management initiatives within the Procurement team
  • Risk & Compliance:
    • Develop approaches to mitigate supply chain risks, uphold ethical standards, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations
    • Support internal partners in compliance, audit, and legal functions
  • CSR & Sustainability:
    • Promote and communicate standards related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability, ensuring adherence and addressing any breaches

Skills & Experience:

    • Proven experience leading high-performing teams
    • Exceptional negotiation skills and a results-driven mindset
    • Strong commercial focus and strategic planning abilities
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills
    • High integrity, dependability, and ability to manage under pressure
    • Experience in cost reduction and synergy delivery, particularly in M&A procurement
    • CIPS qualification desirable
    • Experience in senior-level Indirect Procurement roles
