A dynamic and fast-growing, London-based professional services business is recruiting a brand-new Global Category Manager (Capital Works) position.
Reporting to the Global Head of Procurement, this is one of the first hires within the global procurement strategy and would see you managing a global spend of circa £130m across support fit-out and associated works and services.
As Global Category Manager (Capital Works), you’ll also support the Global Head of Procurement in developing the wider global supply chain strategy for the group which will present excellent career progression opportunities as the team expands.
The business is agile, entrepreneurial and friendly, and you’d work in its contemporary central London office circa 1-2 times per week with flexibility on either side.
As Global Category Manager (Capital Works) your key responsibilities will be:
- Developing, implementing and managing a global preferred supplier list that is sustainable and fit for purpose to support business growth and global strategy
- Supporting the Head of Procurement with transforming the procurement framework globally
- Developing procurement strategies that deliver best-value solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Leading and executing tender processes (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs)
- Negotiating contractual terms and drafting contracts
- Delivery of savings targets and operational efficiencies – ensuring clear and auditable benefits tracking
- Contributing to commercial pricing models and working closely with the commercial function to shape client pricing models
- Establishing, promoting and influencing good procurement practices that support speed and agility
- Assisting with developing and embedding sustainability requirements into procurement and supplier strategy
- Working with contract and delivery managers to support commercial contract and performance management requirements where needed
- Working with stakeholders and supply chain partners and identifying opportunities to negotiate direct commercial relationships with manufacturers of regularly procured equipment and materials
- Helping develop supplier relationship management framework in line with the strategy
- Supporting external client discussions and managing key relationships
- Ensuring vigilant compliance with statutory, client and H&S and operational policies globally
- Recognising and proactively building upon opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
- Demonstrating value for money through conducting regular benchmarking and commercial reviews, maintaining an external network to provide insight of market changes and innovations
- Working collaboratively and maintaining excellent communications with key stakeholders (external and internal)
Skills and experience:
- MCIPS qualified desirable
- At least 5 years’ experience in Capital Works procurement across various sub-categories including: fit out, furniture fittings and equipment and associated consultancy services
- Highly experienced in procurement strategy development, tendering, negotiating and contract drafting
- Post-contract management (commercial contract management, managing commercial supplier’s performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs, strong SRM skills)
- Solution-focused achiever
- Knowledge and experience – NEC, JCT or FIDIC suite of contracts desirable
- Experience in leading the procurement of design and build (D&B) projects of varying value
- Experience working in a fast-paced client-facing organisation
