Category Manager – Hard FM

Procurement Heads Public Services & Infrastructure team have partnered with one of the UK’s leading property developers to recruit a Category Manager – Hard FM.

With over 500 development sites this role will play a pivotal part in managing a re-tender across a £23m spend for the Hard FM category.

We are seeking an experienced Category Manager – Hard FM to lead and manage the category, namely the newly sourced and contracted national/regional supply base.This is an opportunity to put your mark in this role with significant opportunity to deliver value through effective sourcing and contracting.

You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver best-in-class outcomes in terms of quality, cost, service proposition, and innovation. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will define requirements, evaluate supplier capabilities, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and value creation.

As Category Manager – Hard FM your key responsibilities will be

  • Leading and managing the hard FM category, namely the newly sourced and contracted national/regional supply base.
  • Supporting the above through the tender, contracting and mobilisation of the national/regional supply base, ultimately taking over from the Interim Head of Supply Chain.
  • Developing and improving the supply base to deliver the benefits outlined in the original business case and that delivers best in class outcomes in terms of quality, cost, service proposition and innovation.
  • Working closely with key internal stakeholders to obtain performance feedback to feed into the performance management framework.
  • Developing category strategies and executing through strategic sourcing and tendering, where the national/regional supply base is not performing in any sub-category set and warrants a new supply chain direction, and when the new contracts expire in a minimum of 2029, subject to performance.
  • Developing tender packs for any individual out of scope sub-categories (Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps, etc..) including RFI, RFP, pricing matrixes, evaluation criteria, and scorecards
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement to ensure business requirements are accurately captured and reflected.
  • Leading contract negotiations and mobilisation.

Skills and experience required:

  • Must have led and managed the hard FM category, including working and managing large national/regional FM providers, preferably in a multi-site environment.
  • Management of suppliers to performance frameworks, delivering improved qualitative and quantitative metrics.
  • Ability to deliver at pace and execute strategies that deliver tangible benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end sourcing processes, including contract negotiation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
