A global data storage organisation is looking to hire a Category Manager for its EMEA region. This is a broad Indirects role suited to a generalist.
Do you consider yourself a true generalist with procurement experience outside of the UK?
Procurement Heads is working exclusively with a global outsourced technology provider that is looking to appoint its next Senior Category Manager to support the 32 countries across EMEA on a variety of procurement projects.
This is an acquisitive company that has seen vast growth over the past 7.5 years from $4bn to $14bn in revenue.
The Senior Category Manager – EMEA role will see you manage a whole host of procurement projects across a broad range of categories from fleet to contingent labour to IT.
This is a matrix organisation so while you directly report to the Procurement Director and work as part of a team of 14 globally, you will work on multiple projects at any given time and have dotted lines into those projects as a result.
You won’t directly manage anyone yourself either, but you will have flexible resources internally to help manage those projects.
Around 60% of the role is cost savings related and you will need to be able to demonstrate your creativity in ‘making a deal’ to achieve those savings through a variety of methods and not just through leveraging spend.
Procurement must be able to demonstrate its value to the business or will run into significant challenges. You will therefore need to be able to evidence your stakeholder management and influencing skills to be successful.
Due to the nature of the work, there is also a lot of emphasis placed on security and risk management and knowledge in these areas would prove useful.
This is a role that would suit someone who is used to juggling lots of plates and projects at one time.
To work for a listed company across 32 countries on pretty much every single category of spend, with an ambitious and continually growing business, in an industry that is only going to continue to boom is a rare find.
The culture in the last six years has changed dramatically and what was once quite a top-down style, has now become very collaborative and modern in its approach to people and the market.
Benefits of the Senior Category Manager – EMEA role include:
- 15% bonus
- Pension contribution – 5% matched
The Senior Category Manager – EMEA role is fully remote, with one day a month required in London.
