Procurement Heads’ Industrial practice is delighted to be partnering with a key defence organisation based in Portsmouth to appoint a Category Manager for services.
Working within a 6-person team you will contribute your skills ensuring depth and breadth of knowledge for the Ship Repair business. The role will cover OEM’s, Products, Consumables/Raw Materials, Services as a baseline with a mix of Procurement and Engineering back grounds.
As Category Manager you will be responsible for:
- Responsible, developing and delivering the category strategy / plans, including the delivery of agreed business objectives
- Provide leadership to the category team with full management responsibility
- Ensuring contracts with suppliers (subcontracts and materials) have commercial rigour which minimises exposure to risk, encourage innovation and incorporate improvement targets ensuring Supplier Relationship Management is standardised and implemented, agreed with legal colleagues where appropriate, inclusive of key Metrics and KPI’s illustrating Supplier performance with Monthly/Quarterly Business reviews
- Managing risk/opportunities for all suppliers within the Ship Repair BU inclusive of vulnerability/fragility for each category
- Leading supplier relationship activities for strategic / key suppliers within the category and in line with long term strategies detailed via Global Category Teams
- Leading category contract negotiations in line with spend management and drive supply chain rationalisation
- Lead on solutions to support the SC Operations team providing critical escalation and resolution to supply constraints
Skills and Experience
- Category Management and Supply Chain/Procurement experience
- Experience of Project Management techniques or processes
- Contract and major subcontract management experience
- Experience of Continuous improvement
- Relevant qualifications for example IACCM, CIPs or MCIPs
- Having an engineering or technical background would be beneficial
