Category Manager

Procurement Heads is pleased to be working with a large Utilities organisation in the search for a Category Manager.

Procurement Heads is seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead procurement activities.

As a key member of the team, you will develop and execute category strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Your expertise in NEC or similar framework contracts and infrastructure experience will be essential for this role.
As Category Manager you will:

  • Develop and execute category strategies, ensuring efficient supply chain management
  • Lead procurement processes, negotiate contracts, and manage risk
  • Review spend data, identify savings opportunities, and implement strategies based on market trends.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive performance and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and contractual requirements.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in strategic procurement, specifically in the utilities or infrastructure industry or within a public sector organisation.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts or similar contractual frameworks.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.


  • £50-55,000 per annum
  • Hybrid Flexible working, 2 days per week in office
