We are hiring 3 different Category Lead roles as outlined below.
The procurement function is responsible for procuring a broad range of goods and services, ICT solutions, professional services, cutting-edge drone technology, aerial equipment, and intricate capital equipment.
This dynamic and visionary organisation comprises of dedicated individuals who are at the forefront of the communities they serve, continuously adapting to the evolving requirements of London.
With each of the Category Lead roles, will have the privilege of assuming the role of leader for a team of Senior Procurement Managers and Procurement Managers. Therefore, we’re seeking an individual with an appetite and ability to mentor and coach a team of procurement professionals.
First and foremost we’re looking for candidates who take a collaborative approach and demonstrate a willingness to work cohesively across the procurement function. You should exhibit a forward-thinking approach and display a commitment to advancing the procurement strategy in a holistic way.
The Category Lead for Operations will head up the category for PPE encompassing breathing apparatus and protective clothing. You will also oversee and direct the ‘managed services’ contracts of their multiple suppliers.
With a total estate of 104 properties, as Category Lead for Assets and Estates you will be responsible for approximately a £90m spend of which around 60% consists of capital equipment. This role requires oversight of the fleet of complex and diverse vehicles and the management of existing and new contracts to ensure optimum value. Ideally, for this role, you will have a background in estates procurement.
As Category Lead – Professional Services, you will negotiate contracts while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations across categories which include; occupational health, staff training contracts, consultancy spend, communications and finance.
Undoubtedly, all roles involve stakeholder engagement so they necessitate a candidate that has the credibility and gravitas to influence stakeholders at an operational level.
About you:
The role allows a hybrid working approach with a requirement to be on-site two days a week, this can either be their central London office or any of their 104 sites across London.
However, since covid, this approach has been relaxed but may be reintroduced.
You will not necessarily require a good grasp of public sector regulations as these can be learnt, however, an understanding of PCR regulations would be desirable.
You will come from a strategic procurement background with category experience and have led a procurement team.
You will be experienced in team management, motivation and development, to ensure effective capacity and capability whilst managing weaknesses and harnessing strengths.
You’ll lead and manage a range of compliant procurement activities and draft all associated tender and contract documentation to effectively manage commercial risks.
Team structure:
The Category Leads for both Assets & Estates and Operations will report to the ‘Head of Commercial for Operations, Assets & Estates’.
The Category Lead for Professional Services will report to the ‘Head of Commercial for Corporate’.
Each Category Lead will be responsible for a team of Senior Procurement Managers, Procurement Managers and Buyers (roughly between 3-5 in each category).
