Supply and supply chain have never been more in the news

Never has supply chain and product availability been more in the news than it is at the moment.

We’ve seen over the last couple of weeks the price of gas causing a potential knock-on effect to the slaughter of animals and the CO2 packaging of meat and fresh poultry products.

We’ve also seen empty shelves in the supermarkets because of a lack of HGV drivers and Brexit and again we see that there’s a potential panic buying situation going to develop pre-Christmas as consumers worry about the availability of products.

The concern is that that may well become even more of a panic buy situation than we saw at the beginning of the pandemic.

So what does this tell us?

This tells us there’s a real issue around supply and supply chains are absolutely critical for businesses to keep going.

Not only is the supply chain critical for businesses to remain profitable and commercially viable, but the most important part of any consumer-driven business is that you must be able to get the product – whatever that may be – to the consumer.

Without that, consumers won’t be looking at the business and will be shopping elsewhere.

We’ve got a particular toolkit where we can supply interim supply chain practitioners, so procurement, supply chain, logistics, distribution, it is the entire end-to-end spectrum that provides critical cover, commercial benefit and business longevity.

If you think that you need to have a review of your supply chain, whether it be the inbound/outbound inventory management, whether it be the logistic, the distribution, or the processes that go behind it – the S&OP – for example, give us a call, I’d be happy to have a confidential call to see where our network can provide that help.
